We have categorised the suitability of the size of the bird to cage into three categories, small, medium and large. Listed below is a bird size guide:
The bird cage you purchase should be large enough for your bird to walk around comfortably, and the bird should be able to fully extend and flap their wings. They should be able to do this when all the perches and toys are inside the cage.
Small Bird
Budgies, Cockatiels, Small Conures, and similar sized birds
Bar Spacing for budgies, Finch, Canaries 1cm.
Medium Bird
African Grey, Amazon, Small Cockatoos, Small Macaws, Large Conures, and similar sized birds
Wire strength 2.5+ Bar Spacing 2cm+
Large Bird
Macaws, Large Cockatoos, and similar sized birds
Wire Strength 4 + Bar spacing 2.5cm+
